Last Lesson Learned
I hope you never lose, or question, faith.
And that, as time passes, you don’t falter.
Every decision should be met with grace,
No matter how much of life it alters.
You have learned a lot more than you may think.
I have watched as you grew more every day.
Nothing is set until written in ink,
You were always to have the final say.
Time has left his skin cracked and ashen white.
His nightgowned chest barely rises with air.
Stubborn in life, he won’t give up the fight,
But seeing him like this is hard to bear.
The machine slows down until its last beep.
The only sound left comes from those who weep.
