Quiet Strength
I've heard so many lies
Paraded from a mouth so shrewd
That only ever promised the truth,
That I believed.
I believed for myself;
For the survival instinct that refuses to die
No matter how safe a time seems.
I've learned that people turn
When you least expect it,
And that yearning inside of you that wants to be known, to be accepted,
Comes at a cost.
Yet, you can't say that I'm lost.
I'm a human being,
With wants, needs, and desires,
That I refuse to ignore because they won't be easy
I'm stronger than many give me credit for;
Where my body gives out my imagination only breathes,
And wherever it takes me, I promise
You'll see the real me.
